Groningen Airport Eelde

Small airport, you don't have to wait long for your hold luggage, it literally rolls off the belt after your walk from the plane to the terminal. Restaurant is pricey, check in goes nice an smooth. There is not much to do after the security apart from one very small shop and toilet facilities. WiFi is available but very small. 2 gates in total. From the plane out of the building can take less than 10 minutes due to efficient security (2 desks) going out of the airport. In all, the airport is a bit dated and needs some modernisation but this airport is a necessity for commuters from (and to) the north of the Netherlands .

Not Sure if I have been at a more ridiculous airport. even on island airports in Thailand the process of check in and security is smoother. not being able to check an ID card?! I mean which century are we living in? put your handluggage in a thing to measure it before the flight? weight your handluggage before the flight? again...which century and how is it possible that no other airport on earth does this? wow what an amazing negative experience. flew hundred of times already but this is in the top 3 worst airports. never again

I was stopped by guards as I was entering airport and they asked me for an ID. No reasons given, nothing why or anything. 5 guards surrounded me while i was looking for it in my hand luggage because I quickly just stuffed it somewhere. It may seem normal. Well, maybe except for that it had to be maybe all guards available at this small airport to check one small woman for ID ...BUT I was coming in to airport FROM A PLANE, which means that at least on 2 different occasions I needed to show ID BEFORE even boarding the plane. It's normal to have minimum at least one ID check with your boarding card when you pass boarding gate, so I had to have it to ENTER the plane. I don't know if they were bored or what was their reason for this "safety" measure but it made me feel simply scared and really confused. I usually read about customs before I go somewhere and the information about that I need to hold ID in my hand also while just leaving a plane onto an airport never came up.

Excellent! With new flight connection to Copenhagen, I reached Stockholm in 3h 15min. I saved 6 hours in total in comparison to the time I needed usually before. This opens new possibilities for the North of the Netherlands. From Copenhagen, you reach destinations in Northern&Eastern Europe, the US, Asia very easily as time flight is shorter. Another hub-connection to reach the south would of course be perfect..:-)
